For people totally unfamiliar with the concept, the certificate will probably be meaningless to them. Many, many companies still aren't doing inbound marketing. Keep in mind though: inbound marketing is still a growing thing. For a content marketing role at least, I'll hire someone with a writing degree, no "real world" marketing experience, and a degree in English/Writing over someone with 1-2 years of outbound marketing experience every time. But, I do think they provide a solid framework for understanding of inbound marketing.
